Account information: Email address, display name, avatar, and bio when you create an account.

Location data: Your approximate location (with your permission) to show nearby activities and calculate distances. Location is used in real-time and is not stored beyond your profile preferences.

Activity data: Activities you create, join, or interact with, including chat messages and reviews.

Messages: Direct messages between users are stored to enable the messaging feature.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Display your profile to other users
• Show activities near your location
• Send notifications about activities you joined
• Enable direct messaging between users
• Calculate and display badges and ratings
• Improve the platform and user experience

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Your profile information (display name, avatar, preferred sports) is visible to other FindPal users. We may share data with:

• Supabase: Our database and authentication provider
• Open-Meteo: Weather data API (receives location coordinates only, no personal data)
• Google: If you use Google sign-in for authentication

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and local storage as follows:

• Necessary cookies: Authentication (Supabase), session management, language preference, and cookie consent preference. These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics: Anonymous page view tracking to understand how our site is used. Only active if you consent.
• Local storage: Location preferences and notification settings.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in our footer.

5. Location Data

Location access is optional but enables key features (nearby activities, distance display). You can revoke location permission at any time through your browser settings. Activity locations are stored to enable map features and distance calculations.

6. Data Retention

Your account data is retained while your account is active. Chat messages and activity data are retained for the lifetime of the associated activity. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and data
• Withdraw consent for location tracking
• Export your data

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security policies on our database, and secure authentication through Supabase. However, no system is completely secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the platform.
